Time, damn it.
(Coffee Colour – An essential color for this time)
Today, over a cozy coffee, we talk about how you can't see your head from work, and the expression "Time is Money."
Oh, yes! How well-known and used these expressions are, yet so poorly understood or put into practice. The huge difference between theory and practice always puts us in great difficulty.
Yes, "oh, I know this..." is the quickest response you get when you start a discussion on this topic with a hurried entrepreneur. The very one who "knows it all" has no time.
Surprising? Not at all! To believe you know it all is almost synonymous with ignorance.
Enough with the moralizing; let's get to the explanations.
Take a 10-second pause now and think about how much time you spent yesterday on things without significant value for your business. The 80/20 rule applies here too, with great success.
Many entrepreneurs use almost 80% of their working time to solve only 20% of the important problems. Who is to blame for that? Surely not time.
I'm not a fan of the 5, 7, or 9 business secrets that overnight make you have a super business. Without understanding and involvement, any secret remains... just a secret. But there are 3 essential things to win time in your favor.
Organization, procedures, and delegation.
Set priorities and delegate. Are you an entrepreneur or a manager? Get to work! Don't try to solve everything yourself, because you will quickly reach the limit of your powers. If you can't do this for... N or X reasons, then you're not in business. A real business must have enough resources to grow. How do you do this? Learn!
Money is not a problem; it is just a tool to buy something, even time.
The real problem is how you see time or how you blame it for your failures. I didn't have time for that, I didn't have time to do this, and so on.
Always time, but never you.
I heard someone say that discipline is painful, but without it, there is no performance. And that's true! It seems painful when you want to bring order to your business, to get organized, to find unique solutions for repetitive problems. The hardest thing is to get organized, to make procedures, and to delegate responsibilities properly. Once you manage to get past this "pain," the great reward comes. You will have time!!!!
When you have this time, you'll see your business differently and the many opportunities ignored due to lack of time. And then who wins in the end? You.
You can find theories, manuals, and software about "Time Management" in abundance. Both cheap and expensive, each one different. It is indeed recommended to read, but first you must believe, understand, and want this change. Otherwise, it will be a reading... still on the run, due to lack of time.
If you had time to patiently read this message up to here, it means you are one of the entrepreneurs or managers who have time and patience to perform in business. Congratulations!
If you read everything "diagonally" due to lack of time or boredom, I recommend you to reread just the title of this message. The rest you will understand.
And if you haven't read anything, it means you are one of those who "know it all." Obviously, you won't read this message either; what does it matter?
That's all for today about time and "Coffee Colour."
