This responsibility!

This responsibility!

This responsibility!

( 3546 Colour – for determination)

Exactly! For very many entrepreneurs or managers, this issue is quite thorny. Who is responsible, when they are responsible, and for what they are responsible? Obviously, it’s not about answering the phone.

The responsibility for achieving objectives has never been, is not, and will never be the responsibility of the entrepreneur. Their role, as I mentioned in the previous episode, is to set clear objectives and delegate. Remember?

So who is responsible then? Of course, it’s the project managers, whoever they may be. The reality is that, most often, the avoidance of responsibility is as real as it gets, if that option exists.

Not infrequently have I heard, during meetings, people saying “we need to do this and that and that”.

So stupid! This “we do” doesn’t exist, or at least it no longer exists in modern entrepreneurial culture. This is where the dilemma of responsibility starts.

For every project or every task, there needs to be a clear objective, a responsible person, and a deadline. Yes, it really must be so if you want to achieve good results and not have white hairs or sleepless nights.

And here comes the cherry on top. You need to work only with responsible people, and even better, those who are more skilled than you in their field of expertise. Surely you are not surprised to hear this, but does your business operate this way?

These people will deliver results and only results. They are not “timekeepers,” paid more or less, just for the hours worked.

This issue can be resolved through two possibilities, depending on the type and size of your business. Either you have your own employees in all positions or you outsource support services, such as accounting, marketing, IT, human resources.

Now, if you are in the “start-up” phase, you probably cannot afford an army of people at the door of your business in the morning, can you? And then, either you give up on development and always stay in the phase of micromanagement, or you outsource support services without any fear.

Why is that? Because outsourced services bring you a bunch of advantages related to efficiency and profitability. Partner companies, specialized in these services, do not have “timekeeping,” they deliver only the results for your business. And even more, you know exactly the cost of these results.

Another great advantage of partner companies is related to their experience and expertise in a specific service. It’s very difficult for you to find a super employee who can compensate for that experience.

And there’s one more thing regarding the headache. A partner company does not work with… yes, boss, sure, boss, as you say, boss. The role of these companies is to be objective, realistic, and focused on common business benefits, such as “value for money”.

That’s all that matters if your entrepreneurial ego is focused on development and not on the pride of being the boss.

That's about it for today regarding time and “3546 Colour”.

Whatever your business objectives are, decisions must be related to efficiency. Reflect a bit on what has been said earlier and you will find the reason to perform, alongside partner companies with specialized services that take responsibility for the given objectives.

The moral of this episode is about how you view responsibility in your business.

Until the next episode, I wish you time for beautiful autumn days, with good thoughts and successful actions!
