Haha! Star without a name.
A new spring edition with En-Joi, on a Thursday
It's March 13th. Wow! But what do we have on the menu today? A day like any other, a day in which we talk about something fine dining, since culinary shows are still in fashion. You know very well that simple things are, in reality, extremely complicated when you want to deliver something top-notch.
Today we are talking about what the launch of a new project should be. We have ideas, no joke. In fact, ideas upon ideas. And if you do a brainstorming session in the company, you will surely find the new year caught up in a continuous debate. But the most interesting part is that, most of the time, this debate focuses more on substance than on form.
For example, a few days ago we were launching a new project and the first question was: what name will the project have? Seriously? Is that all it takes? Seriously? Where are the objectives, where is that “something” for which we throw a bunch of resources into the fight? Ha! The name was all that was missing from the project.
What I want you to understand from this is that, in theory, we know, but in practice it crushes our creativity. It's about that pragmatism from which success comes. In the old days, it was said that you should measure ten times before you cut once. Now, in the millisecond era, you start by cutting ten times until you see that it's not quite right. That's... pretty much forward.
And if we are going to start a new project, with who knows what objectives, isn't it better to sit down and think through all the details and possible scenarios? Not for nothing, but time costs money. From my point of view, it is essential to know what you want right from the start, to have an insight and to think through each step carefully. This means efficiency. Sounds simple? No way! It's easy to throw around big words and grandiose objectives, which later turn out to be just soap bubbles. Then you throw your resources into the fight and realize that it’s not quite right. So? A waste of time and money.
You have a new project. Maximum excitement, ideas upon ideas, energy at all-time high. But you're distracted by the landscape. You're in a hurry. You become inattentive, careless. And guess what? You make mistakes. Sometimes, however, mistakes aren't completely accidental. Some projects leave room for intentional errors, precisely to attract attention and obtain feedback. To see if your work is being followed. A simple test, but effective. We tried it. We sent a letter with an incorrect visual. BIG TEXT and INCORRECT, hoping for reactions. And what do you know? We got them! Do you remember when we said that “haste makes waste”? Many of you reminded us of that. But, in fact, the purpose was different. We wanted to draw attention. To engage in conversation with you. And it worked. The conclusion? Not every mistake is a dead end. Sometimes, it’s just a clever way to test the waters.
That’s what we had to talk about today. The moral? Haha! Is it what it should be? Maybe yes, maybe no. But guess what! This dilemma isn't a lottery. It's about your success and even about the morale of your team. In short: know what you want. Is it important? No! It is essential.
And if we go beyond the moral aspect, we, the Geseidl team, know what we want. Together with your support, we are backing the construction of the new Pediatric Hospital in Ploiești. We have an objective, we have insight, we have confidence. Come join us, so that the children's chance for health is not just a project with a nice name. That's what it should be!
